On 20th October 2016, During the conference in Kharkiv, the social project “Volunteers School” has been launched by Ukrainian public organization “PORUCH” with the support of the German federal company «Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH».
“Volunteers School” is a project aimed at popularization of volunteerism, improvement of the competency level in historical volunteers activities in the world, encouraging citizens, including the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) for the active participation in the social life of their community, also unification of IDPs and the community to achieve mutual objectives and creating a positive image of Ukraine.
Active citizens, students, representatives of public organizations were invited to participate. During the training, participants obtained a clear understanding of the history of volunteerism, the legal status of volunteers of NGOs and also the basic skills needed to discuss decisions taken by local authorities.
The project aimed to solve the problem of lack of theoretical and practical training of volunteers and shortage of professionals who organize and coordinate the work of volunteers.
The main purpose of the project is a new social network of activists in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Luhansk, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions, able to develop a constructive dialogue between the community and the authorities in the implementation of social projects.
This project will increase the level of the volunteer motivation and social responsibility as well as active participation of IDPs in public life.
