Successful implementation of the “School of Volunteers” project in Kharkiv, Zaporizhya, Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytsky, Ivano-Frankivsk regions and the community’s curiosity and wish to know more allowed us to expand the horizons of the project – this time is the South of Ukraine.
July 1-3, 2017, the “School of Volunteers” was held in town Primorsk. The project partners were the Department of Culture of the Region State Administration and the Central City Library. Coaches – Oksana Melnyk and Nadia Govorun.
The project was attended by school students, internally displaced persons, students of local technical colleges, representatives of public organizations of the city and active citizens.
During the training, participants received knowledge of the history of the volunteer’s movement, the legal status of volunteers, the activities of civic organizations and also the basic skills that are necessary to discuss decisions that were made by local authorities.
Since the project is designed to solve the problem of activation of local youth, insufficient theoretical and practical training of volunteers, as well as the absence of specialists who could organize and coordinate the work of volunteers. During the training few master classes were held on different topics: project management, communication leadership and team working. Thus, the coaches provided attendants with the necessary knowledge and skills to help activists (especially young people) to communicate and interact with the local authorities for the benefit of the entire local community.
