Aid Just a Step Away from the Front Lines: The NGO “PORUCH” Successfully Completed a Humanitarian Project in the Kherson Region
From October through December 2023, our team, in partnership with the international organization Save the Children (SCI), implemented the strategically important Project No. 17692 in the Kherson region. The main goal of the initiative was to meet the basic hygiene and protection needs of families affected by conflict, displacement, and flooding

Despite logistical challenges and the constant danger in the de-occupied territories, the project fully achieved its objectives.
Key results of our work:
The plan for direct assistance to households was 100% implemented—2,165 families received support.
In fact, we reached 6,268 beneficiaries, including women, men, children, and the elderly.
Hygiene kits (WASH) and non-food items (NFIs) were distributed to the most vulnerable segments of the population.
The project budget of over 20.7 million UAH was transparently and effectively utilized in full through open tenders.
Safety and Operations in Extreme Conditions
The project’s operational logistics were specifically adapted to the conditions of the dangerous 3-kilometer zone along the contact line. To ensure the safety of local residents and our team, we avoided large gatherings and implemented a decentralized distribution of aid while maintaining media silence (the “do no harm” principle).
Thanks to the use of light-duty trucks and strict safety protocols, the PORUCH team managed to carry out high-risk deliveries right up to the front lines—specifically in the village of Kachkarivka—without a single security incident.
A Look to the Future
Monitoring confirmed high levels of satisfaction among residents with the quality of the aid provided. However, communities still have critical needs, including the restoration of housing, hospitals, and water purification systems, as well as the construction of bomb shelters.
Project No. 17692 has been officially completed. The unique experience gained has been integrated into our organization’s development strategy and will serve as a new benchmark for effective emergency response in the future.
