NGO "Poruch" has completed the implementation of the project "Conducting a series of trainings on entrepreneurial and business skills development, practical aspects of entrepreneurial activity, and strategic business development for the war-affected population of Ukraine" within the framework of the UNDP project "Transformational Recovery for Human Security in Ukraine" with funding from the government of Japan and support from the Sustainable Business Platform Academy.
The project is unique in that within a very limited time – from January 8 to March 15, 2025, 1,231 people were selected to participate in the training program, and 32 three-day training events were conducted for them, aimed at increasing the entrepreneurial capacity of the population in five cities of Ukraine. In Kyiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv regions, the program involved people who aspire to become entrepreneurs and existing entrepreneurs planning to expand their businesses, while in Vinnytsia and Lviv regions, it exclusively involved internally displaced persons, persons with disabilities, demobilized soldiers, veterans, and their family members. As part of the program, 20 in-person and 12 online trainings were conducted, developed taking into account the needs of the affected population and small and micro-businesses: "Start Your Business!", "Business Planning for Entrepreneurs", "Development Strategy for SMEs". These programs ensured the gradual development of entrepreneurial competencies – from idea formation to building a long-term business strategy.
The trainings were provided by 13 highly qualified trainers, each with deep knowledge in entrepreneurship and practical experience in launching and developing businesses. They not only professionally covered key topics but also skillfully adapted complex information to the needs of different groups of participants.
One of the important aspects of the program was the involvement of active entrepreneurs and representatives of state institutions in the training process, which significantly enhanced the motivational effect of the trainings.
In particular, in the city of Kharkiv, participants had the opportunity to attend a presentation by the director of the Kharkiv Regional Employment Center, Oleksandr Kotukov, dedicated to existing opportunities for entrepreneurs in the region. This contributed to a better understanding of available support tools at the local level.
Furthermore, the participation of active entrepreneurs who openly shared their personal stories was extremely valuable for the participants. The attendees noted that the openness in talking about mistakes, fears, and ways to overcome difficulties helped them better understand the realities of the entrepreneurial journey, inspired them to take the first steps, and added confidence in their own abilities. Thus, the combination of practical experience with motivational support became a key factor in increasing the effectiveness of the educational component of the program.
Thanks to the carefully planned organization of the educational process, constant communication with participants, and the high professionalism of the trainers, as well as the involvement of the community sector in "Conducting a series of trainings on entrepreneurial and business skills development, practical aspects of entrepreneurial activity, and strategic business development for the war-affected population of Ukraine," the project significantly impacted the development of entrepreneurial activity among vulnerable segments of Ukraine's population, contributing to their economic recovery and social integration.
