From Emergency Aid to Systemic Recovery: The NGO “Poruch” Is Implementing New Support Models in the Kherson Region

The two pillars of our work:
Mobile Multidisciplinary Teams (MMTs): Eight teams have become the “first line of defense” for residents of over 60 villages in “gray zones.” Thanks to them, 9,919 people have received vital support directly in their communities.
9 stationary Hubs: These “safe spaces” provide in-depth rehabilitation and stabilization. The Hubs have become true centers of gravity for communities: on average, each of the nearly 13,000 beneficiaries sought psychosocial support more than 5 times.
Key Achievements and Shifting Priorities
We are seeing how people’s needs are changing. For example, the plan to deliver the “Positive Parenting” course was exceeded by 196%. This means that communities are moving beyond basic requests for “humanitarian aid” to seeking tools for psychological survival and family preservation.
In addition, more than 1,600 people with the most complex cases (medical or legal) were successfully referred and integrated into the national assistance system thanks to our work.
Investing in the Future and Systemic Resilience
For us, it is important not only to respond to crises but also to build capacity on the ground. That is why we:
Trained over 200 professionals in modern management methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and stress resilience.
Provided over 100 individual counseling sessions for social workers to prevent burnout.
Donated over 110 laptops and multifunction printers to the Kherson Regional State Administration’s Children’s Services, digitizing the assistance process.
Our experience confirms that even 20 kilometers from the front lines, it is possible to transition from one-off rescue operations to the systematic development of community capacity. The combination of MMK’s mobility and the Hubs’ depth is becoming the new standard for humanitarian work in Ukraine.
