The participants of the programme were youth workers and representatives of organisations from different countries, namely Ukraine, Malta, Croatia, Hungary, Türkiye, France, Portugal, and Poland.
Participation in the project gave our team an opportunity to gain new knowledge, exchange experiences with international partners, and strengthen our competencies in the field of youth work, particularly in the area of financial literacy.
The programme focused on youth financial literacy and practical tools that youth workers can use in their work. During the training, participants explored the key components of financial literacy, the psychology of money, saving, investing, financial freedom, and responsible debt management. Particular attention was paid to developing a healthy financial mindset and skills that help people make more informed financial decisions. Participants Shulichenko Anastasiia and Zlata added: “This is truly very useful information for us, as we will be able to successfully and competently apply the knowledge we have gained in the future.”
An important feature of the project was its practical learning approach. Participants not only attended theoretical sessions but also took part in simulations, discussions, and practical activities. In particular, the “Rat Race Simulation” gave an opportunity to explore financial decision-making in practice, while the follow-up discussion helped us reflect on and analyse the experience. Participant Sofiya Andriichuk shared: “This programme was very useful for me. It provided a lot of valuable information, and everything was meaningful and interesting.”
Another important part of the programme was the creation of tools for youth education. Participants worked on developing their own materials that could later be adapted for work with young people. The final stage included presenting the tools created during the training and preparing materials to disseminate the results of the project.
For participants with different professional backgrounds, the topic of financial literacy was an opportunity to look at familiar issues from a new perspective. The speakers presented complex financial concepts in a clear and accessible way, making the knowledge gained useful not only for professional activities but also for everyday life.
Intercultural exchange was another important part of the project. Participants had the opportunity to meet people from different countries and learn more about their cultures, traditions, and approaches to youth work. One of the most valuable outcomes of the project was the opportunity to build new international connections and potential partnerships. Participants agreed to stay in touch after the programme, exchange information about future Erasmus+ opportunities, and explore possibilities for taking part in international projects together. Participant Yuliia Bohdan noted: “From the very beginning, there was a warm and welcoming atmosphere: all the participants and organisers were very friendly, and communicating with them was a real pleasure!”
Our team of volunteers returned from the project with new knowledge, practical tools, and ideas that we plan to use in our future work with young people. The experience gained will help us make financial literacy topics more accessible and engaging for young people and contribute to developing their independence and responsible approach to managing their personal finances.
We are grateful to the organisers and partners of the Erasmus+ “Cha-Ching Champions” project, «Fraternitas» and «Prisms», for the meaningful learning experience, openness, opportunity for international exchange, and new connections.
